Newsletter April Theme of Activities: Plants This month we explored the plant kingdom. We looked at all sorts of scientific issues related to plants including their structure and needs. We focused on vegetables this month and learned what part of the plant we are eating when we eat different vegetables. We have planted many vegetables and flowers. Our garden looks great! We celebrated spring with a wonderful spring picnic that we hope you enjoyed as much as we did. Circle Time: We have been learning and practicing many new vocabulary words about plants this month. We have talked about the various kinds of fruits and vegetables, and what parts of the plants we can eat. Children enjoy describing their favorite flowers as well. We have played games focused on vocabulary retention, and have sung songs about plants. Morning Activity: We started new language and math books this month. Both classes are doing a review of the alphabet. In math the younger class is reviewing counting from 1-10 while the older class is learning addition. In science, we learned about pollination, planted seeds, and grew mold (it was really gross). In art, we decorated flower pots for our seeds, made flower sun catchers, popcorn cherry blossom trees and handprint flowers. Afternoon Activity: The weather has been really great this month and we have spent most afternoons playing outside at Kids .ouse or at the park. We also played many games in the playroom. Our favorite is "What's the time Mr. Wolf?" and we also learned how to play hangman this month. The younger kids help the older kids by guessing the letters and the older kids can quickly guess the correct answer!! Miscellaneous:
