Newsletter September Theme of Activities: Environment This month we studied all about the environment and focused on recycling and things we can do to save our planet. We spent one week practicing what we should do in an emergency and had an emergency drill at the end of the week. We had a great excursion to the Aquarium where everyone enjoyed the dolphin and killer whale shows. Circle Time: In circle time we learned many new words related to the environment, including different kinds of environments and the kinds of trash we can recycle. We talked about different ways we can save our planet and practiced many new songs about recycling and saving water. Morning Activity: We did many interesting activities this month. We recycled paper, made compost with worms, and learned about how polar bears stay warm in science. In art we made animals which are growing real sprouts for hair, drew posters and made crafts by reusing materials from our school. We continued our math and language books and learned new vocabulary in language related to the environment. We also cooked yummy treats from ingredients found in the rainforest. Afternoon Activity: It was still really hot this month so we spent our afternoons playing games, including a new game where we separated our trash. One afternoon we went to the park and cleaned up all the trash. On the days it was cool we played outside and searched for worms for our compost. Miscellaneous: Happy birthday this month to Soichiro, Aqeel, Aisha, Yusuke and Atsuna. Ask us About: What our favorite part of the environment is? What we can recycle? What things we can put in a compost? |
